Gu Jie, a magician who orchestrated a sinister suicide bombing by manipulating corpses to do his bidding, has gone into hiding somewhere in Japan。 As public outcry against magicians builds and humanist forces gain momentum, the Ten Master Clans task Tatsuya, Katsuto, Mayumi, and Masaki to determine the whereabouts of the mastermind behind the bombings。 But when Major Benjamin Canopus, the second in command of the most powerful magic unit in the United States, starts gunning for Gu Jie as well, Tatsuya grows inexplicably enraged!

The ending of this three-part arc basically revealed it to be a combination of set-up for the next plot and bridge from one arc to the next。 It was something of a let-down, to be honest。 I have the feeling that I'm reading these books out of a sense of obligation and, frankly, I'm not sure I'll continue with them。 It'll be a while before the next book is available in English, so I may have changed my mind by then。The other issue I'm having is that this was not even a novella。 The graphic stuff a The ending of this three-part arc basically revealed it to be a combination of set-up for the next plot and bridge from one arc to the next。 It was something of a let-down, to be honest。 I have the feeling that I'm reading these books out of a sense of obligation and, frankly, I'm not sure I'll continue with them。 It'll be a while before the next book is available in English, so I may have changed my mind by then。The other issue I'm having is that this was not even a novella。 The graphic stuff at the beginning (character profiles, world background, etc) is now so massive (frequently listing characters we haven't seen in a long time) that none of these books is really full length。 In this case, the last 25% is taken up by a short story from Ichijou's POV which turned out to be vaguely interesting, as it happens, but largely repeated stuff from the main plot。 TBH, I feel sorry for the poor man。 He has no clue what's going on。 He still thinks he has a chance with Miyuki。 It's sad。Anyway, this one ends an arc, and that's the only reason for reading it。 Meh。 。。。more

I love the series, but I'm thinking it is running out of gas。 The characters were there, but the energy wasn't。 The author made it through 18 novels with a lot of good things happening。 Maybe it is time to write something else。 I love the series, but I'm thinking it is running out of gas。 The characters were there, but the energy wasn't。 The author made it through 18 novels with a lot of good things happening。 Maybe it is time to write something else。 。。。more
